WHY I am leaving the AA after 46 years of membership

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have been a member since 1972 membership 6356010214609093 yet I will not renew my membership in August. WHY? It is because of your promotion of GAY Pride. Apart from the fact that according to ONS Homosexuals, Lesbians, Bisexuals only represent 2% of the population, why is the AA getting involved in Political/Social Movements? The AA is a members organisation and its raison d’etre is in the name AA The Automobile Association  a British motoring association founded in 1905, which currently provides car insurance, driving lessons, breakdown cover, loans, motoring advice, road maps. My membership fee is to provide the previous and not meant for the administration to promote social/political propaganda whether it be Gay Pride, Animal Rights, Pop Stars, etc.

What was interesting was the justification

Here is the excuse for this exercise :

“We're also proud to be supporting Pride In London on 7 July, celebrating inclusivity, equality and diversity for our employees and Members”

This is a red herring, the AA has always been inclusive at no time when we join do you ask what our sexual preference, what our religion is, what our ethnicity is. By promoting Gay Pride the AA is suggesting that being Gay offers you more then being a member of the rest of the community or the 98%. Is the start of the AA promoting other minority groups at the cost to AA members?

It is time the AA stuck to what they are paid to do and it is time organisation like the AA looked after the majority rather then pandering to the minority
