John Apps at Homing

Grandson Harry in charge of the Bar B Q

One of the best things I have ever done was to buy a Static at Homing Park Seasalter. Already we have had John his wife Rebecca his sons Lewis and Harry visiting plus let not forget Susan, George and Poppy also my old mate Alan Kontozi assembled one of my storage bins and brought it down This weekend Val’s Brother John Apps spent the night with us the Club listening to live music. John lives for 8 months at another Static park in Seasalter the rest of the year he stays in Gambia.
Val with brother John and of course windmill

Our Touring Caravan was on a seasonal pitch at SeaView Swalecliffe the one thing I like about that was I could go for a swim every morning from 8am till 9am my bit of training while in the caravan here at Homing I have had to have an alternative. So my training week is as Monday to Thursday at home 10 minutes stretching 45 minutes Static cycle and rowing machine alternate days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 minutes stretch 30 minutes using wrist weights and bull worker. Not the training regime of my competitive days but just as important as I get older to keep myself in trim

One of the crosses I have to bear like many others is type2 diabetes if you are strict on your diet and fitness you can keep it in check in fact you lead a healthy lifestyle. I never really looked at the cost of my medication but recently I had a new insulin injection subscribed which cost £100 per pen so
the chemist tells me. So you can imagine the cost of Diabetes to the nation no wonder the Government want us to have a healthy diet and life style
Was that a smile from me?

Trump v Clinton are polls right?

Trump v Clinton

I am not a US Citizen so the outcome of the Presidential Election is not up to me. Under our system we do not vote in a President thankfully, we vote in a Party and the winning party form a Government and the Prime Minister. I do like the US system where they have two Chambers both voted in by the electorate rather then the corrupt House of Lords, which no one votes in. Interestingly they abandoned the Hereditary Lords in favour of a system where selection is by interested parties  which made it completely partisan. At least with the original system the Lords Chamber did not have any allegiance to political parties or individuals but the time has come for the Lords to go and new chamber started and its members voted in by the electorate.
Most say Clinton will win I personally think this will be a disaster as she is liar, cheat, and member of a political elite. More importantly she is a danger to the security of the World and along with UK and EU. Her attitude to Russia helped by the UK and EU could lead us to a world War plus she is also in the pocket of Saudi Arabia who actively supports Isis and the Taliban remember Bin Laden was a member of the Saudi Elite. If she wins the only hope for the USA is that there is a massive Republican majority in the House of Representatives who can block some of her legislation. 2 disastrous Presidents on the trot would be disastrous for the USA.
Yet Trump seems to be a man who opens his mouth before he thinks and any sensible people do not believe that he will carry out some of his controversial policies. The thing in his favour he is not part of the Political Elite but neither will he make a good President. The US public like the British public have had enough of the Political Elite and establishment running the Country so a vote for Trump and a win could change the political scene.
This election reminds me a lot of our own EU Referendum where the remain campaign (Clinton) were using every lying devious ways to get us to remain, the establishment, political elite, every political party with exception of UKIP, Multi Millionaires, BBC, many reporters, foreign politician remember that terrible Obama telling we should stay in or we would go the back of the Queue, Celebrities, Mega Rich (Branson) etc. all wanting us to stay. Even the polls said remain would win just as the polls are saying Clinton will win. YET WHAT HAPPENED the British people said enough is enough and we voted out could this in the USA where people power takes control?

One of the biggest brag the US says anyone can become President NO you have to be Mega rich to become President I could never see a John Major type who was from a humble beginning become President. Does the ordinary US Jo Public ever get  anyone who really representing them?

Old Fashion Orchard

Old Fashioned Orchard

Although I understand that Farming like everything else has to move on and that our Farmers are the best in the World  but I do miss the old fashioned Cherry Orchard with sheep under the trees. The modern orchard and plantation are at height which you pick from the floor without ladders they produce more and better quality fruit.

August is alway considered our Summer but as soon as you see the corn being cut and the smell of manure being spread, you know the next step is ploughing and that means Autumn is soon upon us

Moroccan Meal

On Saturday had a meal at a Moroccan Restaurant in Whitstable underneath the Railway arch is was brilliant and can recommend it to anyone. For those interested for my starter I had the Baked Goats Cheese glazed with Orange Blossom (do not know where they got that), honey on roasted beet and spinach. As a rule I dislike beetroot but as I paid for it I tried it and have to admit it was tasty. My main course I had Beef Tangia: slow braised beef in a sticky fragrant sauce with prunes, walnuts and grapes on a chilli spiked butternut squash puree. Oh and Val had pan Fried Lambs Liver

Years ago when you went to a Restaurant you would dress for the occasion, not today people were turning up in torn T shirts and Shorts and worse still a couple came in and put their feet on chairs. These people were not Chavs they were middle class professionals the same lot who let their kids run all over the place. Whilst there we watched the Whitstable Carnival a throw back to the 60’s but great fun

After the meal we went back to our Static in Homing Park and then went into the Bar where they had entertainment from Justin Timberlike yes a Tribute Singer have to admit not a great lover of Justin Timberlake but this Anthony Whitehead put on a good show not just as a singer but as an entertainer as well plus he did sing many other favourites well worth seeing

Seasalter and Judo

Val with Kids

Took the Grand Kids to Seasalter Beach, this beach is not spoilt by modern tourism all you get a pebbled beach one small café and a shop.
Seasalter brings back memories of my youth back in the 1950’s my Mum and Dad would take us down there on their motorbike and sidecar an old Panther shaft driven bike. It was great, picnic on the beach and on many occasions we would go with a group of friends mainly from Judo all on motor bikes well accept for the Spalls who had a car.
Val posing

Many of you will not know in 1962 there was a big demonstration of Judo at the Albert Hall all the demonstrations were given by top Japanese Masters that was with the exception of the demonstration of Ju No Kata and that was performed by my Mother Margret Clarke and Joan Spall the only No Japanese to perform at the event.

So what has that got to do with Seasalter well every time we went to this beach my mother and Joan Spall would practise the Kata very much to the embarrassment of us youngsters. Thinking back to those early days of Judo one wonders what the other people on the beach were thinking. Life was a lot simpler then as was entertainment. A trip to the beach in those days was an inexpensive day out
