MSM Shock

For those of us who have been using MSM this articles comes a shock

MSM Doesn't Help Arthritis Roger MasonDecember 29th, 2009~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MSM (methyl sulfonylmethane) is a very popular and widely sold arthritis and inflammation supplement that simply doesn't work. It just won't go away despite its total lack of effectiveness. This hoax started with the TV and movie actor James Coburn, who claimed MSM magically, cured his arthritis. Well, poor old James died and was still as crippled as ever. Chondroitin is another popular and widely sold hoax. There are published clinical studies proving chondroitin is not absorbed by our intestines. It must be injected to be of value. Unfortunately, medical doctors are too backward to offer chondroitin injections.
MSM is related to DMSO, or dimethylsulfoxide, both having sulfur and methyl groups. MSM is one third sulfur, but we just aren't sulfur deficient at all. In a way, MSM is an oral form of DMSO. In THEORY all this sounds great, but on closer inspection nothing sounds very good at all. DMSO applied topically in large amounts will temporarily lessen inflammatory pain in most people. This is very temporary, superficial, and symptomatic relief. This is NOT a natural or holistic practice whatsoever. The problem is that DMSO is 99% absorbed into the blood, and you don't want all that DMSO in your blood. DMSO is therefore not a safe treatment for arthritis or for pain relief. Don't use it for such. DMSO is going for delivering hormones using one drop.
There has never been one valid published study in all these years to show proof MSM has any value whatsoever. Not one. In the entire world not one single study. If MSM had real benefits there would be published clinical studies using real people. There aren't. Why? Because it does not work, never did work, and never will work. That's why.
There is the toxicity issue to consider as well. The suggested dose is at least 1,000 mg a day of MSM long term. Many people take much more than this. Taking large amounts of such a poorly understood supplement is a very bad idea. You can expect negative side effects that are as yet undiscovered. Overdosing yourself on MSM will backfire on you.
You cannot treat arthritis or rheumatism with Magic Supplements....you can't treat any disease or condition with Magic Supplements. If you want to know how to cure your arthritis please read Treating Bone and Joint Problems Naturally in our free library. Why do Americans have more arthritis, rheumatism, osteoporosis and other bone and joint problems than anyone else in the world? Did your know 95% of Americans over the age of 65 have some kind of arthritic condition? We're the richest country in the world. We have the more doctors than anyone else. We take more prescription drugs than anyone. Basically it is due to our poor diets. Eating 42% fats, twice the food we need, twice the protein we need, 160 pounds of various sugars, refined grains, very few green and yellow vegetables, and all those Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants) is the basic reason. Go anywhere in rural Asia, and you'll see far less arthritis, osteoporosis, and other bone and joint problems that are so epidemic in America.
It is literally harder to cure arthritis than it is to cure the various types of cancer. It takes years to rebuild and repair bone and cartilage, and we lose the ability to do this as we age. Over the age of 60 it is more difficult for us to rebuild new bone and cartilage even if we eat well, exercise, and have a healthy lifestyle.
Yes, there are scientifically proven supplements to help you, but they are not going to do much if you don't eat well, exercise, and take care of your health in general. Flax oil, glucosamine, All Your Minerals® (with 20 minerals in the amounts you need), and vitamin D all can have value.
Hormones are critical as well. Testosterone, DHEA, and progesterone (not estrogens) are the bone building hormones. In women estriol is also a bone building hormone. If you are low in these, your joints will simply not be able to repair and rebuild themselves.
Curing all bone and joint problems (including gums and teeth) is not easy. This takes a total program of diet and lifestyle. The older you get the more difficult it is. Please go read Treating Bone and Joint Problems Naturally in our free library.
